Spent the day at the Hawk Conservacy and was lucky enough to get these shots. Not the sharpest examples, comments welcome.

It was a very bright day 2PM and the sun was high. I am not very good with photoshop/USM etc. I think that the raw file in the right hands could be made much better.

Great to see photos from this lens. I don't believe I have the coordination it takes to get that shot. Maybe someday.

I got my 80-400 last week and was not very happy the first two days I used it. I just couldn't get sharp photos. Having some time this weekend to experiment has made all the difference. Faster shutter speed, bright light, and a steadier hand gave me some very nice results.

I think this lens is going to be a great one, it just takes a little time to get used to its characteristics.

I have a trip planned in a month and want to take just one lens. I'm beginning to wonder if this is the one. Heavy, but worth it?

I hope you are enjoying the lens as much as I am.

Have fun with the lens Karen. My aim is to get the 24-120VR so that I only have to carry only two lenses when out and about, keep the others I have for specific uses when needed.

--Hello Dave,
Several questions.

Was that another bird the hawk got to eat? If so, you were at the right place at the right time.

Are you any relation to Ann Penfold? If so, are you trying to compete one against the other in quality of shots? LOL

The photos may be a bit fuzzy, however, they are still great. You only get better with time and practice.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Stanley S.

Hi Stanley

The food was catapulted up by the keeper. I am related to Ann my better half. I know who has the better shots she told me so.

Dear Stanley,

We don't compete - my shots are much better than his, he just needs to learn to accept that and everything will be fine. LOL

Don't worry, no war, just healthy competition, which is always a good thing.
