Any optical issues of the FX lens will appear magnified on a DX sensor (like CA). Moreover the FX lens adds size and weight for unused glass.

The lens spec 24-70 f/2.8 sounds great for DX though. The available 16-... and 17-... lenses for DX make a lot of compromises on the long end >50mm.

All true, but from my perspective at least it is not worth me having lenses that can't be used on both FX and DX bodies if I use both sensor size camera bodies. Plus there is a slight gain on DX in the corners of a frame for sharpness.
