Metz M400 HSS

Very nice photos, have you used some sort of fill flash for backlit photos? If not, how have you achieved so bright faces? Much appreciated

I recently purchased the Metz M400 for Fuji, and after the firmware update on the flash, it works wonderfully for HSS with the XP2. I've seen other posts confirming that it works equally well with the XT2 and XT20.  This was my first trip using the flash, and it worked great for fill against bright light.  It's also relatively light and compact.  There are no special HSS modes, and the camera and flash communicate perfectly in TTL mode with full control over the flash from the camera Q menu.  When you exceed the 1/250th Flash sync speed, it automatically employs HSS.  I also used the flash for some of the shots from Part 1 of this series, usually firing straight up wide the wide diffuser and the bounce card employed.

Unfortunately, I somehow left the flash out of my bag on the trip to the dunes, so those shots are adjusted in PP using some radial filters and some post crop vignetting control in LR.  It's also why I used Across for some, raising the overall exposure considerably so that some of the color channels were blown out.  The pure white highlights work well in this scenario.

Hope that helps and thanks for commenting.
