Photography and OCD

So, I am pretty OCD about taking care of my gear, so when it comes to taking photos, lets say, at the beach, I can get discouraged, or paranoid about things like changing lenses, or having to bring a folding table to place my camera bag on to avoid sand/dirt.

Maybe this is a good thing for the gear, but I feel its an unhealthy mindset.  For example, I have a boat, and I could get some really great access to wildlife, but I am apprehensive to do so because I am worried about getting my gear wet or dirty, etc.

I realize that my gear isn't "environment proof", but it is rugged enough that I am probably worrying to much.

Any thoughts? Any other photographers have similar problems? Thanks in advance for the free therapy discussion, lol.
