I must accomodate to the long lag between pressing the shutter and actually taking the picture, especially because the EVF is black for quite some time.

The actual lag time between pressing the shutter button and capturing the image must be way less than the perceived delay. I do not know if this data is made available by Sigma.

I would suspect that the EVF blackout is more related to the processing time and resources required to write the data to the card. The processor used to create the EVF image from the sensor probably has some limitations too.

The sd cameras can continue to capture images when the shutter is depressed, but I believe that the EVF or rear screen blacks out in the process.

This really concerns me, because if it is true (and it isn't with the Sony EVF cameras, though people have made similar claims about them). I guess I'll probably have to get an SD Quattro to find out. I guess by now I can probably find a used one for about $600. Maybe that is what I should do.
