Re: Who's more reliable/less prone to malfunction? - Olympus vs Panasonic

No, it doesn't because the question doesn't ask for the respondent's experience. It asked only whether Olympus or Panasonic "are" more reliable.
Ironically, given your response to my critique, my suggested alternative questions did ask specifically for people's experience based on what they have/had, so you seem to be vehemently agreeing with me
I believe that most people would answer based on their experience, so they are talking about samples. The ones that don't would probably split between both manufacturers (I don't have any reason to think otherwise).
The only way to *prove* something would be to test all the equipment ever manufactured by both brands, something that it is impossible.
That's not entirely true. One could draw a conclusion from a sample and say how probable it was that it was correct.
So, that's no proof about which manufacturer is definitely more reliable, just a measure on how likely the answer is correct. Probability theory, as you suggest.
Anyway, a 22-2 vote (so far) speaks for itself. And I could not agree more.
SO we can't prove anything, but the answers speak for themselves? OK....
Exactly. Again, probability theory. No proof, yet a strong indication (assuming of course that we don't have 30 evil Panasonic employees voting against Olympus in this forum).
I don't think we think so differently. I only assume that the simple yes/no question is answered honestly, while you probably want a more detailed answer.
Denying the lack of proper quality control of our cameras only helps the competition. Pointing the problems of our equipment helps our cameras improve.
