I have just purchased a S/H Canon 700D body with some 4000 shutter count, however when I connected a very old Canon 28-80mm EF 3.5-5.6 11 lens to check the body out I get a letter 9 next to the green focus spot in the viewfinder, also I’m getting some 2 stops over exposure, but in live view mode the exposure is correct. Is my problem with the lens or body do you think? Thanks for any advice.

The number you are seeing next to the green focus spot is the maximum burst - nothing wrong.

Maybe you can post a jpg image straight out of the camera for help on your exposure issue.
