Not sure what this thing does, but it looks like a single element filter.

These types of screw on front elements are close-up lens. Like reading glasses or magnifier lens, they shorten the focal length of the original lens. The field of view is wider, but you cannot focus to infinity.

Wide angle converter needs multiple elements. They are usually designed for a particular P&S camera. I have never seen any generic 77mm diameter converter.

Anyway, why would you put a Coke bottle quality glass in front of a $800+ premium lens?
