Playing for keeps!

Nice shot Geoffrey!

This reminds me when i used to play marbles as a kid. We used to have prices for different types of marbles and would play for keeps. The game was very popular at my primary school back in the late 80's but then these dam things called computers and ipads made all the kids lazy.

I think i'll have to search my parents house for my marble collection so i can teach my 6 year old how to play after seeing this post. I try to show my son that there is other things to do than computer games.

The kids here play for keeps too, vass, which is how I come to be the supplier of marbles to the neighborhood!

My little bloke, Pius (on the left in the picture), is the youngest of the group. He begs me to buy marbles -- you get about 20 big one or 30 smaller ones for bout AU$1. Then he shares them around a bit and they play. Eventually, his friends and relations (up to 18 years old!) strip him of marbles.

Next day, Pius begs for more and I get them. Then he plays marbles with the other kids…

His 9 year old sister is included in the "other kids" -- normally a sharing, fun person, when it comes to marbles she is Attila the Honey!

I told the kids the other day that they had all better pitch in and resupply Pius when he was cleaned out otherwise I would cut off supply. Seems to be working! LOL.

PS: I have a lump of arthritic outgrown on the thumb knuckle I used to shoot with. But it was fun!
