I think the Really Right Stuff CRD-87 Package Camera Rotation Device looks good but its expensive and I'm not sure you'd be able to get smooth circles with this either hand turning it

Looking at what's being suggested I think the problem with smooth operation is that the weight of the camera is not evenly distributed around the lens axis. You may need to attach weights to various parts of the body to balance the mass as it rotates.

But here's another thought ... print a 'normal' image and photograph a spinning print on say a turntable. Yes, it will be a 2nd gen image, but I'm guessing this will be masked by the blur.
