Shimmering in the Viewfinder

I think that it's caused by the micro prisms on the focussing screen. I have abandoned the AF on my SD1 M and always focus manually.

Thanks to you and Reiner, I now realize that the focusing screen is not just plain ground glass but has something on it - either micro-lenses or micro-prisms - which causes the shimmering.
