Canons and Nikons (and Fujis!) operate very differently (enough to drive you crazy at times), so you might want to test the waters a bit first before jumping in whole hog.

Here's a great way to dip your toe into the Canon waters without breaking the bank...

Get yourself the (over-achieving) little 50mm f/1.8 STM ($125 USD), put it on the T4i and shoot everything in sight. See if it makes the same impression on you as it did me.

If you like that enough, take the next step and upgrade the body (to one with Dual Pixel autofocus), or add another native lens.

Personally I'd rather go this route than try to adapt a foreign lens system, esp with the kinda smallish viewfinder. I did like my T4i very much, and shot everything from Macro (ahem, MICRO)...
