We all know that a lot of Fuji users move down from high end full frame DSLR kits for the reason of downsizing. No exception, I moved from a nikon D800E, and i'm a prime shooter mainly at 24mm, 35mm and 85mm. I used to own a 300mm f2.8 but I am not using it that often.
Considering IQ + weight,
Would you prefer:
-14mm f2.8 + 23mm f2 + 60mm macro
or
-16mm f1.4 + 23mm f2 + 56mm f1.2
I really need a 35mm equivalent focal length, so 23mm always has a spot in my kit. Considering the weight f2 is a much better choice for me personally.
The question comes down to the wide end, i would prefer a 24mm equivalent light lens, i.e., 16mm f2/f2.8. However, 16mm f1.4 is almost double the weight of 14mm and f1.4 isnt something i would need for a wide angle lens.
At the tele-end, again, 56mm is the ultimate portrait lens ( i wont consider 90mm due to its weight). However, 60mm seems to be a steal lens at half of its weight and price. I understand its slow focus and relatively slow aperture, but dual purpose lens is always a plus.
what do you guys think if u can only have 3 primes ?
I'd go with 14mm 2.8, 23mm f2, 50mm f2
I 've already owned the 14mm , wider than the 16mm yet smaller; f2.8 does it for me
The 23mm f2 is a must lens , small, cheaper, and WR; I'm waiting for the silver one
Ditto with the 50mm silver; not quite long enough for most portraits but small and cheaper and WR
The alternatives are just too large and heavy
I may add the 35mm f2 to complete the f2 trinity ; however I can see it being used less often than the 23mm
Cheers,
