E-M1 Mk II slow to focus in low light

Had typical awards ceremony dinner to shoot tonight. Decided to use the E-M1 Mk II with FL-900R flash. Camera set up in single shot, mechanical shutter, S-AF, focus priority. Light was equivalent to f4.0, 1/15 sec ISO 6400. Had camera in aperture mode with 1/250 sec. I did not have the focus light assist on. I normally take two to three shots per award participant. Usually had no problem getting the first shot, but pressing for the second or third shot the camera would hang up for a second or two before getting the shot off. This is definitely making me reassess using the E-M1 Mk II only in well lit scenarios. Lens used was the 12-100/4.0.
