Hi guys!

After buying a 5D Mark IV body, I only have enough cash to buy one lens. I shoot mainly landscapes so wide angle is my priority. Ive been looking at both of these lenses and there is quite a price disparity! Can anyone give any insight as to which one is sharper and which one you would recommend.

17-40 f4.0 is a great WA lens , especially using it on an aps-c camera! i own one and love it but it is getting a little bit long in the tooth. the new 16-35 f4.0 IS is a new generation with IS and i have read rave reviews about its IQ and functionality, so, i would resoundingly vote for a 16-35 f4.0 IS,  if you have the cash for it
