As you know, Canon separates all of its lenses into groups with a letter to designate which can make use of what points, ie those grouped into A type use all the points, B use most, C less so....etc..etc. When it comes to third party it's a bit of a lottery, the newer the lens and the faster, the more likely it will be in group A or B.

So when I look a a lens like the 24-105 f/4L, where is the "A, B or C"? Honestly, this is the first time I've ever heard of this. Please clarify.

Also, just went to Canon's website, and nothing remotely like this "A, B, orC" classification is on there either.

Okay, I'll help you out.....go back to Canon's website

Download the AF manual for the 7D2, page 32 onwards describes the groups, you'll find the 24-105 f4 L is a group B Lens.
