Canon 100D Hot shoe lift

Hello all!

My wife's camera, used for dentistry photography with a Nissin MF18, has developped a fault. The flash hot-shoe seems to have lifted up from the body slightly, and the two rails seem to also be wonky, enough, to not allow the flash to make contact and be used. The camera has sat with the flash attached and in a camera bag in a cupboard for about 18 months, where it has not been pressed by anything. Is this something I need to go to a specialised repair shop for, or should I attempt to fix it myself? If the former, do you know of a good reliable such company? If the latter, could you suggest how to go about it? Either way, any help would be much appreciated!

Many thanks!
