Reporting back to this forum. I ended up getting a Panny Gx85 with 14-140mm Mk II lens for my recent trip. That 14-140mm lens is phenomenal piece of engineering - small, light, contrasty and very very sharp up to 130mm mark. Whilst I got a lot of great pix out of the Gx85 I thought it sucked as a camera. The menu and ergonomics were TERRIBLE and the endless number of options through dials and menus and accidentally selecting and deselecting the 100s of options was FRUSTRATING and super super annoying. It is way too complex for an amateur, way too messy and disorderly for an enthusiast and pros simply wouldn't go with M43s. So sadly, the GX85 is going on eBay and no more Lumix cameras for me.

I owned a series of Nikon DSLRs and also shot a couple of weddings with a D90.  I found it trivial to use the Panasonic menu system; they seemed similar to me.  In fact, when I got my GX7, I commented how much I liked its ergonomics and how they reminded me of my D300.  Funny how we can have different views of the same thing, despite having come from the same camera.

Good luck with whatever you end up buying.
