New PC and SPP6x

I recently renewed my PC. I based it somewhat off of the $4K Mac Pro specs.
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 (8 core, 2.4GHz, 20M cache) http://ark.intel.com/products/83356/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-2630-v3-20M-Cache-2_40-GHz
Graphics: Nvidia Quadro K2200 4gbs http://www.pny.com/NVIDIA-Quadro-K2200
Memory: 32GB
1TB SSD
I didn't buy it to run SPP6.x, but I was curious.
8-12 seconds to load an actual pixel file into an editing window from the original's folder. Quattro files edit in real time and save to 16bit tiff in about 3 seconds. It felt almost normal. These times are using SPP6.3. SPP6.5.1 doesn't support my graphics cards. Whether this was the reason or not, 6.5.1 took 28-30 seconds to load an actual pixel into an editing window and was unworkably slower in editing, zooming in and out, etc..
My new machine has hyperthreading et al.. and is specifically tuned for heavy calculation fluid modeling. Graphic environment is set for 3d video editing. The odd thing is that when SPP did hang up - let's say while changing color mode it took 20+ sec. - no more than 4GB of RAM were ever utilized. The cores did top out at 100% several times, but they ran mostly at 15%-45% while editing.
On another note, tired of slippery cameras? Try this amazing material. Choose rubber. https://talongungrips.com/other-grips/material/large-sheet-5x7.html I just put it on my DP2x. Its like glued to my hand! Really.
