Hi, You probably gained quite a bit of sympathy when you stated your 6D takes better pictures at F4 than F5.6. You see sharpness is determined by a few factors with the lens and the way you use being the biggest. The sensor only records what is presented it.  The rule of photography do not really change. There are many good sites to help you learn. In many areas there are camera clubs where you can meet other with similar interests.

I am just a weekend cameraholic but do like little birdies. Two things to remember, keep the shutter speed up and get the DOF required to get the image you want. There are more in my gallery. Some sharper than others.
