Great advices!

Even with the 15 or 17 prime, the GM1 is much bigger than the RX100.

The RX1 was given to me, so I'd be happily keeping it. E-M1 definitely stays.

Maybe, I'll let the LX100 go and keep the rest. But its video is so much better than others. The Macro is also good. And it has a viewfinder.

I took E-M1 with the pro zoom, 17 prime and the RX100 to China. I found myself using RX100 maybe 80% of the time. The E-M1, as small as it is, is just too heavy to carry when coupled wi the pro zoom. I only used it when I know there'll be some action shots.

Sounds like the RX100 is your 'Linus Security Blanket'. Just like GM1 + 15 is mine

As for your EM1, I had a similar reluctance when I had my D7100 + 17-50/f2.8. I mostly dread lugging it around but only do so because it was easier than finding a better alternative. I went cold turkey, sold my Nikon dSLR (8 zooms, 2 of which f2.8) and went entirely with EM10 + GM1 + 8 primes. Never looked back

Edit: I sold my EM10 for PEN-F. GX85 replaces an old Canon HG-10 camcorder.

the more i think about it, the more sense it makes to have a second smaller m43 body. as I do want to have fun with the primes, even when e-m1 is too large to carry.

so at the end of the day, for my lineup

  • E-M1
  • LX100
  • RX100
  • RX1
  • GM1

The only one that seems to be out of the place is the LX100, which happens to be the only one that can shoot 4k video. I am leaning towards keeping all of them. maybe later on, replace the LX100 and GM1 with a GX850 or GX85.
