The SuperCCD was not all that good. You got a grainy look in the mid range. And, it had definitely less dynamic range than any contemporary sensor.

Now they use selective ISO expansion. Very cool, and something I'd like to see added to Sigma cameras, if possible.

Yes, that is cool. Pentax has it, but only 200% I think. It is also quite easy. You under expose and brighten the dark parts. In camera, it only affects JPEG. Out of camera you need to use the native converter to understand the meta data, describing how much to enhance the dark parts.

NOTE - you can do this yourself, but using the automatic native method is much more convenient.
