Canon G10 bootstrap sync

I found the following schematic of the switching scheme for the shutter and remote plug terminals for the canon cameras which utilize the RS-60E3 wired remote.  I noticed that if you were to take a 2.5mm male to male cable and plug two cameras together via the remote ports, you should be able to control both cameras from the shutter release of either of the cameras.

I tried this today, and it works.  Two G10's will half-press and press simultaneously from the input of one shutter button when they are plugged together.

My question:  What is the procedure for determining the sync of the two shutter releases?  I know that the individual cameras may have different lag, but how do I determine this?

My guess is that this bootstrap sync will work fine at least for anything without lots of motion in the frame.
