best ever.

Negative:

- EF-M standard zoom lenses, the 1445 and 1855 quality does not match the cameras sensor (which is much better).

I was actually pleasantly suprised by the EF-M 1855 on my original EOS-M. Relatively sharp compared to my other kit lenses (original EF-S 18-55, Sony's 1650).
DXO mark rates it at 8mp percieved resolution on my 18mp sensor versus 6mp on sony's 24mp sensor so it's not "just me".
Totally acceptable for a "kit zoom". I paid $90 for mine, but the real star "kit lens" is the 22mm F2. Totally impressed with that lens that came with my $200 clearance EOS-M.

Agree with you when comparing to EF-S 1855 and Sony 1650 - I had these lenses both and they are really lower average only.

A good lense within the EF-M series is the EF-M 22 for example - good standard zooms are seldom, I have made very good experience with Sigmas 1750 / 2.8. Nevertheless sometimes the EF-M 1855 is on my camera, when weight is very important, it's not a bad lense, good average maybe, but the sensors quality is much higher, that's what I wanted to say.

I originally got the M3 to replace my 550D kit and was amazed at how much better the sensor/kit lens was compared to the 550D.

When buying both the M3 and M5, I did look at other mirrorless cameras like the A6300 and Fuji XT-10 but their lenses just didn't interest me. The M3/5 with the 22mm is a combo that can't be beat for the price imo.

I would definitely agree with the post higher above about the 15-45mm lens being unimpressive. If it was an f2-f4 I could probably like it better but it's just not useful at its current apertures.

The M5 is working really well for me with the adaptor too. I've mostly used the 50mm f1.8 and 35mm f2 IS but both have been great.
