My experience with x-transformer (foliage images included)
7

Hi all,

There's a couple of threads already on this, but I didn't want to hijack or derail.

I will certainly be purchasing a license for the x-transformer software, the demosaicing and fine detail rendering is already superior to Lightroom and I'm rather pleased with the fine detail rendering around foliage. I have attached three images for your own assessment.

Some notes to consider:

- you have to be very careful with the sharpening level, I find that sharpening level 25 is far too sharp and have to turn it right down to get a nice, natural appearance to images (especially with sharp lenses). These images may be too sharp for your taste.

- the tool itself is in beta form and is a capacity hog when batch converting images, regardless of spec. This isn't a problem for 20 or 30 images, but if you're planning to do 100+ images you may want to consider waiting until a bug fix / second beta release

In short, I will be adding this to my processing. Very happy, and very good work by the developer.
