D3300 Flash and Shutter Issue

Hello Guys (gals too)

I just got a d3300. First camera.

I am liking it till now. But there is one issue that I cannot fathom.

If I pop-up the flash and try to click a picture, it doesn't work. When I press the shutter button half-way, it starts to focus. It works fine till here.

But when I actually press the shutter button, it does not click the picture. It focuses but does not take a picture.

On the screen, I can see the TTL icon showing up. The camera also detects the low light and opens the flash but it does not want to take a picture with the flash in ON position. Neither the flash fires up not the shutter.

All other functions from A to Z are working except this one.

It would be great if you can explain me about it. Is there something I am missing? Or is my flash is bad?
