Olympus 25mm 1.8 - is this amount of chromatic aberration normal?
2

Hi,

Recently received an Olympus 25mm 1.8 and took some test shots. Some of these showed high levels of chromatic aberration in high-contrast areas, clearly visible without zooming in. I'm wondering whether this is normal for this lens or likely to be due to a bad sample. Reviews I've read do not mention the lens having significant issues with CA.

100% crop of the worst example, from upper centre of frame.

The lens also shows some moderate softness towards the lower left at wider apertures, in reasonably carefully aligned test shots of a bookcase, so again I'm suspecting it's not a great sample. I've seen others here mention de-centred samples of this lens. What I'm not sure is whether the CA is also likely to be due to sample variation.

Thanks,

Dave
