BIF using E-M1 Mkii w/ 300/4.0 + 1.4xTC
2

Back a week or so ago I was able to get out and do some BIF photos using the new E-M1 Mkii and the 300/4.0 with TC. It was a cold and very cloudy day. Temperature was around 20 F degrees. My plan was to go to a park that had many Canadian geese. This park was closed. So went to another park that is located along the Ohio River. When walking down to the river I scarred off a Great Blue Heron, a Green Heron and an Egret. I seat on a log next the river for an hour without really seeing any other birds. I then went to a third park. This one is also along the Ohio River and is immediately below a dam. There was at least a thousand seagulls and they were skimming the white capped river catching fish. Only trouble is that all this activity is occurring on the other side of the river. The seagulls were about the size of the focus box, Anyhow, this is what nature gave me so I seat down on a rock and started taking photos. I was impressed that the C-AF could lock on the small seagull and not on the background of trees and a concrete dike. Anyhow, here are a few photo from my first BIF outing.

If interested in seeing more from this first outing I got them in a Flickr album at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/david_l_black/albums/72157678314725635

My initial feeling is that the C-AF and the mechanical shutter on Low Continuous works really well.  AF didn't lock onto the background and it was easy to follow the birds in the EVF.

Many thanks for taking the time to look.
