Weird defect on new FujiFilm XF 16-55 F/2.8 Lens

I just took delivery on a new FujiFilm XF 16-55 F/2.8 Lens yesterday, and when I took off the lens cap and was screwing on a filter, I had noticed either some glue or a defect in the coating?

On the inner-most ring, the one that is closest to the front element, and just below and slightly left of where it says “Fujinon”, there is approx. a 1 cm area where (if you look at an angle), there is either an imperfection in the coating, or there is a sticky substance visible at the edge of the ring on the glass.

I saw it right away. It wouldn't impair the photo, but had decided to call FujiFilm Customer Service/Repairs to at least ask about it. The lady with Fuji repair in Valhalla, NY said that I should exchange the lens for another one, as you shouldn’t see anything on any of their lenses, regardless of the angle of view - ever.

She went on to say that Fuji customers should always return lenses if anything is noticed out of the box, because all lenses that leave the FujjiFilm factory in Japan, are assumed to be perfect, and free from defects. She went on to say that if the lens were ever sent in for this or any other issue, any defect could be deemed as "caused by the customer" and it could void the warranty.

It is sort of hard to see on the photo at this angle, but it's there nontheless. It has been sent back and a replacement one is on its way.
