Re: K-50: Where can I find a REAL simple how-to-set-it-up?

And I do mean SIMPLE. Along the lines of, 'Turn the camera on and press button X, then set this value to Y', etc.
My newly purchased second-hand (grade 10) camera came with a hefty unopened manual but I'd rather read something that steps you through a setup suitable for a beginner.
First, reinitialize your new camera to the default factory settings, so that you dont have to bother to whatever special unexpected settings the previous owner has customized it.
Then set the mode dial to the green "auto pict" mode and go out shooting.
The camera chooses everything, and , most of the time, it works OK.
After a little more training, set the mode dial to SCN and choose the scene mode that suits the scene.
You then can specify some settings, like AF or ISO. I suggest auto-ISO at the beginning. It works!
Next step, set the mode dial to P, and now you can control everything: the camera will apply the jpeg tuning settings, ISO and AF mode you have selected, and choose aperture or shutter speed. By turning the back control dial, you change the aperture and the camera switches to Ae mode. By turning the front dial, the camera switches to Tv mode. By pressing the green button, the camera goes back to the program line.
Though she has a PhD in computer science, my daughter doesnt want to know about advanced camera settings, she prefers point and shoot. Here is a link to what she got in auto mode with my K30 and a 20 years old vintage entry level zoom from the film era when we went shooting wildlife in Tanzania:

After that, I can start to refine and fine-tune settings as I get more familiar with the various functions.
Thanks for reading.
