I don't remember where I obtained this image but it shows what I have noticed about Foveon images.

The talk here on this forum is mostly about edge sharpness and resolution but there is more to it. After shooting thousands of pictures with my SD14 I bought a Pentax K5 for it's low light performance. I immediately noticed something lacking in the K5 images.

You can see that the DSLR A Bayer camera (I don't know the brand or model) favors the RGB filter colors. Since the Foveon does not use filters with narrow spectral response it differentiates colors better.

A Bayer camera could be designed with broader spectrum filters but then it would have similar problems with ISO performance as the Foveon .

I notice it most often in images of faces. The Sigma is better at showing very slight variations in skin color.
