EOS M3 with EF lenses. Focusing issues and causes.

Last spring I got the M3 and a Vello-adapter ring to use my 3 old EF mount lenses. As I was moving up from the old 6041 Rebel it is quite a difference in resolution. Not to mention bulk and weight, which in my case is important.

The old EF lenses do focus in optimal lighting conditions. But if lighting is not optimal, they are a real pain and go off focus or just zoom in and out without deciding which way they want to do it. Okay I can use them as manual lenses, but I get better image from dedicated manual ones.

So I got a single 22mm autofocus lens for convenience and added two manual lenses that give me really good optical quality for the work I do. Actually they are all all good optically!

Before I get rid of my older convenient autofocus EF lenses:
1) I wanted to ask if anybody knows of a difference between the Vello ring adapter or the Canon brand adapter. Is my autofocus problem in any way related to the brand issue?
2) Is there an adjustment in the camera programming that I have missed?

I am asking because I imagine that others have the same problem. And if there is a way around the focusing problem, It would really make my day.

Thank you!

Adapter: Vello EF to M
EF Lenses: 50mm f/2,8, 28-135mm f/3,5, Sigma 10-20mm.
EFM lenses: 22mm f/2 Autofocus, Rokinon 12mm f/2 manual, Rokinon 50mm f1.2 manual
