A little more on the Q.Menu

I finally got into customizing the camera's quick menu option. I like how you can customize up to 15 things on this menu, rather than having to wade through the full menu. This is a better user interface than Olympus offers.
In terms of user interface, it is a little clunky in that you don't seem to be able to move items in the 15 menu slots. Instead, if you want to change the order, you need to deselect the item in the menu slot, and then re-select it, putting it into the slot you want it to be in (I wanted my 5 most important menus to be in the first 5 slots). My current assignment is:
- Photo style
- AF mode
- ISO
- White balance
- Flash mode
- Multi-metering mode
- HDR
- AFS/AFF (single/continuous focus)
- Movie speed/resolution setting
- Enable/disable touch screen
- Bracketing
- Flash adjustment
- Filter effect (art modes in Olympus speak)
- Shutter type (auto/electronic/manual)
- Silent mode
Rather than having more buttons on the body or lenses, Panasonic has 5 soft buttons that you can select with the touch screen. I currently have it set up as:
- FN6: Enable/disable wifi
- FN7: Enable/disable preview
- FN8: Auto Focus mode (I may change this, since I now have it on quick menu)
- FN9: Photo style (I may change this as well)
- FN10: Highlight/shadow
The other buttons that I currently have set are:
- FN1: Digital zoom
- FN2: Quick menu
- FN3: Wifi (note since I direct focus area set, this is used for focus instead)
- FN4: Preview
By each of the C mode, we can have an independent Q.Menu (or in different order) to suit for each C mode's needed. Like GX85 there are 3 C modes, we can have total 4 different set of Q.Menu (too much for me!).
Basically, I would have as little items as possible (try to limit to 10 items by 2 pages) for easier selection (best 5 items in 1 page but can't ).
If I'm not wrong, bracketing should be better to activate in the Q.Menu (where we can set the setting without going deep into the Menu). If activated it through the fn keys, we have the only option of enable or disable it.
Regarding the Tab menu (the extra soft fns), as GX7 has less features (at least can save me 2 fn keys for the 4K related features, 4K Photo & Post Focus, plus there are 5 C modes there, I basically can disable it for a simpler screen. No such luxury for GX85 which has only 3 C modes and more support 4K...
Finally I'm sure you should aware it already, just in case... Same as GX85, there is a "Dial Operation Switch". Assign it to a fn key, activation of it we could assign 1 additional feature to each of the front and back wheel temporarily. As I don't want my eye leaving evf during operation, I set ISO & 4K-Photo (nothing better for me to put there) to the front and back wheel.
Not sure would it be the same as GX85 or not, but when click on the back wheel of GX85, in addition to the normal EC control (a redundancy me think), we can also control the Flash Adj and Bracketing....
Wishing it might help.
