Hi guys,
First of all, I have been very passive in this thread for years, but recently I bought myself Canon M5 in Hong Kong and I would like to share my knowledge. I currently have Canon 5D Mk II with many lenses (primarily prime).
Here in Hong Kong, the camera has been available for1-2 weeks ago. I bought it in Electronic store Broadway for HKD 8,800(USD 1,135) with 15-45 kit lens. I might able to get cheaper price in other places, but in Broadway, I was able to get 0% interest free with 24 months installment. Note that I get many free gifts that come along with the purchase of this camera (Bag, 64Gb San Disk SD, Card Reader, Tripod, extra 3rd party battery)
There is an option if you buy any EF or EF-S lens, you will get a free mount adaptor. I did that and bought myself 15mm Fish Eye lens (to be used mainly for my 5D mk II).
Similar to other report, the mount adaptor come without tripod mount, but it is available to buy the mount for HKD 175 (USD 22).
The above camera is Hong Kong warranty. I did investigate prices around Sim City (famous photography mall in Mongkok Hong Kong) and I bought myself used 11-22 lens for HKD 1,900 (USD 245) with 3 months warranty left. I also found that I can buy grey camera with much cheaper price Body alone: HKD 6,800 (USD 877) or kit one: HKD 7,800 (USD 1,006). Note that this price is without my attempt to bargain (which can be done in these type of shops).
[Sim City is a heaven for photographer as many stores sells 2nd hand camera and lenses and many different accessories all from cheap to very expensive ones]
Does it mean that we can see grey camera at ebay soon at around $877?
Currently M5+15-45 comes from Hongkong at $1,079.
Probably yes around that price. I saw many units in the stores stocked (10+ body only)
