Limited Use: Sigma MC-11 Mount - (Sigma SA-Mount Lenses to Sony E)

Hello:

Did you know (at least "according to this B&H listed description"), that the Sigma MC-11 SA-E adapter ONLY supports what appears to be compatible with the ART, Contemporary, and Sports version lenses?

B&H webpage link:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1299223-REG/sigma_50mm_f_1_4_dg_hsm.html

(Need to scroll down to section header:

Sigma MC-11 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma SA-Mount Lenses to Sony E )

Therefore - according to that compatibility listing, the OLDER (non - ART, Contemporary, and Sports version lenses) - won't "work" using this adapter, on the Sony E-mount camera system line-up.

Sigh - meaning not listed lenses such as: (to name a few) -

Sigma 8-16

Sigma 85 (non ART)

Sigma 105, 150, 180 macros

Sigma 8 fisheye

And I estimate others I have not listed.

I was contemplating maybe, either going with this adapter on a Sony E-mount camera, OR - the Sigma SD Quattro, directly Sigma SA native mount, for an additional / alternative camera to the Sigma SD1M (Merrill).

It does seem to become more apparent - that the lenses of "yesteryear" - older lenses, SA mount, DON'T (won't) work "decent" / adequately on the Sigma SD Quattro or any Sony E-Mount with the SA-E mount adapter.

Pretty limiting for a person that might be already heavily invested into owning the SA mount lenses, with their earlier Sigma SA mount DSLR cameras.

Search continues...

Thanks for reading, and any comments / contributions / opinions you might post,

Have a nice day / evening -

Ed
