Death of an Icon

Without starting any political discussion (please!), it is without doubt that an iconic figure of 20th century global politics has died.

Love him or hate him, you cannot not have an opinion about Fidel Castro.

In 2003, near the end of his tenure as president of Cuba, author Anthony Daniels wrote of him: “Nearly half a century after he first took power, he fascinates in a way that the younger gray functionaries who now control the world do not, and he still provokes the strongest passions. No one is neutral about him.”

(That was the closing line of an article today in the Huffington Post.)
