Hi

I have a Panasonic 14 2.5, Panasonic 20 1.7, Olympus 45 1.8 and am hoping to get the Olympus 14-150 shortly. I was thinking of selling the 14 to get more of a wide angle lens and more flexibility which I thought the 12-32 would offer. I see it has good reviews.

Do people think this would be a good move?

Thanks

If it were me the answer would be a firm no.

I have the 20/1.7 and the 45/1.8, together with the 12-32. I took a statistical study of the shots from the 12-32 and found they were nearly 100% shot below 14mm. In effect, that lens is serving as a 12mm prime.

You've approximately already got that prime. So stay put, unless you also want to get rid of the 20/1.7.

The 12-32 cannot match the primes for IQ, and exhibit so much barrel distortion at 12mm, even after default profile corrections, that correcting to rectilinear loses a couple of mm of view so it's really quite close to 14mm at the wide end if you want straight lines to be straight near the edges.

I can understand the rave reviews. It's a typical very competent kit zoom that's also small, light and easy to operate. But if you are familiar with the quality offered by the primes this is a step down. You cannot have tiny, light, good zoom range and prime quality. Something has to be traded.
