Interesting.  I did move it to the larger AF point, and it focused faster.  However, I tend to be of the school that I don't want the camera focusing on anything but exactly what I aim at.  That's why if I'm not shooting movies and/or using face detection for quick shots, the camera is always locked to a single focus point.  Using the smallest focus point reduces the potential of the camera back/front focusing.

I'll have to see when I use it for real quick grab shots, whether I keep it at the single square that isn't the smallest AF pinpoint for faster focusing or use pinpoint focusing for the most accurate.
