Too great getting that PK! I've learned typical goal sequences are a couple seconds so being ready and then reacting is the acid test--a test I frequently fail. Set pieces like PKs and corner kicks usually allow for tactical positioning but even then, surprises happen.

A minor tip: even in full sun prefer shooting at or near wide open. The lens is sharp enough and the rewards are better subject separation and higher shutter speeds.

Congrats on your success and continued best wishes on the sideline. I wish more folks knew how good m4/3 is now for sports. The birders did a better job getting the word out.

Cheers,

Rick

Thanks.

Over the years, I've been able to get a number of shot of goals. I've gotten worse at it lately since I find myself actually wanting to watch the games and that is hard to do through the EVF.

I'm still playing around with the settings. I'm using shutter priority and auto ISO so sometimes the light is enough to stop down the aperture even with 1/1250 and ISO 200. I try to keep an eye on the aperture and increase the shutter speed to keep the lens closer to wide open. How do you usually set things up for sports?

This was another one of my son's shots that resulted in a goal earlier in the season:

This is one of my favorites from this season:
