IR Comparison SDQ vs SD1
IR Comparison SDQ vs SD1

I have been meaning to do this for some time. I shot a comparison between the SDQ and SD1. I did two SDQ shots with different exposures. One to allow processing by the Blue channel only and one that would require blending the channels. I used ISO100, f8, tripod, AF. Marumi R72 filter Sigma 18-35 at 18mm; NR at default settings and no additional NR done. The shots were processed to taste using SPP and PS or Faststone..
SD1B: 1/250 sec
SDQA 1/125 sec
SDQB: 1/50 sec
With SDQB, I had to do substantial processing in PS in order to bring up the luminance in the left-most and right-most trees. They were not in shade and seemed to have equal light on them. Perhaps this had something to do with the channel selection (Blue).
If you compare SDQA and SDQB you can see two differences. There is less noise in SDQB which has a substantially longer exposure and uses the Blue channel only. Also it is noticeably sharper (B) because is uses only the top, full-size layer (Blue) as opposed to some combination.
