Any further thoughts around these 2? I'm looking to purchase my first DSLR and am torn between the 100D and 1300D.

I was looking at the 2 below, the 1300D with the II Lens and not the later III.

Canon EOS 1300D Digital SLR + EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens - £330

Canon EOS 100D Digital SLR + 18-55mm IS STM Lens - £309

So the 100D is cheaper and has the STM Lens, I can't see a reason really to go for the 1300...? I'm not bothered about the WiFi connectivity stuff really. I haven't yet held either camera though so might find the 100 too small.

The 1300D seems to be the one they are throwing at your face on online retailers..

Otherwise the 700D is £100 more but has the articulating screen. But not sure if I want to spend that much.

Was also going to probably buy the Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM (£165) or one of the 24/40 prime lenses..

i cut and past from my post abuve

yes the 100 D has much over the 1300D its almost in a different league deffo a step up

you get the much better STM lens... a biggi the 1300 not even have IS!!!!!

a touch screen

much better video /live view AF

mike socket

better LCD

spot metering

better build

Digic 5 processor over digic4+

i think there is no sensor cleaning on the 1300D

and the sensor is older on the 1300 will be very slightly behind in iso performers

faster frame rate..1fps faster not sound much but its 30% faster

the 1300D you get wifi and nfc and a bigger battery

i whuld pay a 100 more for the 100D....atlest
