See MPOs in full 4k 3D on Samsung TVs
Nov 15, 2016
I am not sure if that is a well-known fact in the 3D community, but some Samsung 4k TVs can show MPO files in full 4k 3D, for example my new Samsung UE55JS8080 (=UE55JS8090 or Samsung UE55JS8000).
I have been using a Fuji W1 for some years now and never had a real good way to view MPOs. The best way was in Full HD via my Sony PS3. But now being able to see the photos for the first time in such a high resolution is really amazing. Now I feel it was worth it always bringing the Fuji W1 as an extra camera to all my vacations. The only downside is that the TV software is not very stable when viewing the MPOs. From time to time I have to restart the TV. But that might get better over time when (if) Samsung further works on the firmware (which they still do).
I bought this TV only recently and it might be hard to get by now. The reason for buying was that I wanted one of the last high end Samsung TVs with 3D option. Unfortunately my TV has some serious issues when it comes to horizontal stripes in dark scenes of 3D movies and also quite some clouding. On the other hand it (as the first TV I own) has no visible banding at all, which is great if you watch Soccer or Formula 1 races. All in all I do not regret having bought it. For its MPO ability alone the price of about 1600 Euros might have been a little high though!
