I have a G7 and I do (at least sometimes) shoot video.

If you're going to be in dim light, and not far from your subject, then the 12-35 f/2.8 may do. I have used the 14-140 ii on the G7 to shoot video, and stills; it's fine for stage light at ISO 800. As you know, the camera controls ISO in video (by default). I can assure you that the 14-140 ii serves quite well to shoot video and stills in stage lighting or similar.

By the way, if you're shooting stills of something on stage, you probably should go into "silent" mode. It's pretty amazing to shoot without any shutter sound, or any beep. And the pictures came out excellently! Better than I expected.
