Back to my shenanigans, Nikon D750 or D800? Reaching out to D750 owners!

I recently bought a D700 and fell completely head over heels. Until I got a battery grips for it, the camera wouldn't see the grip. Yes it was a Nikon branded MB-D10 with an EN EL3a battery, I tried rechargeable batteries and set the batteries in the camera, and I tried the grip with just the battery in the camera, nothing worked. The camera would not see the grip. I thought it was grip so I returned it and bought a new one. Same same troubleshooting and same result, the camera simply would not "see" the grip.

I returned the camera and now need a new camera. I purchase my equipment used as I get to save a few dollars. I found a D800 in 95% of new condition and 3,000 actuations (exactly 2,985) for $1,500. I found a D750 in 98% of new condition for $1,400.

I have played with them both extensively, the 36MPs don't bother me. However, I have consulted with a fellow pro, online not in person, that tells me the build quality of the D750 does not feel very "pro" and that the AF seems unreliable for fast action. The reason I am troubled is because I do weddings and in low light, I need the AF to be reliable all the time. I know the D800 only goes 4 fps but the 5fps from the D700 was more than enough for what I do. Also, I loved the build quality of the D700 and I am also concerned that it may not be rugged enough.

As I stated I have played with both cameras extensively and although I did not have an issue with the AF of the D750, I did agree with the lack of a PRO build quality. Please help. All opinions are welcome but I would LOVE to hear from long time D750 owners

thank you ahead of time
