The same question is being asked in another thread which I have answered, so I will copy and paste that answer here:

I'm not sure that a forum populated almost entirely by enthusiasts is a viable place to ask that question.

I'm a full-time professional and some areas of my work bring me into contact with dozens of other professionals every month. You might be surprised at the number of pros who now use mirrorless systems, and most often Olympus. Quite a few of those are wildlife photographers,

My work covers everything from environmental portraiture through to animals and sport. I am still using my old EM5 and EM10 bodies and combined with superb lenses these are ideal for many assignments. When I need certain features I have my EM1 and that has proved to be a very competent camera for faster moving targets and sport.

Olympus are aiming the EM1 MkII ( I do wish they had simply called it the EM2!) at professional photographers who have very wide ranging needs or very specific needs, such as sports - in a small and abundantly portable package. If that isn't you, then Olympus offers alternative cameras of superlative quality and performance, with very attractive pricing.

I would say that the high price of the new camera reflects the R and D invested in it (and I can tell you that is a lot) and the unique feature set - and it is fairly unique, in the mirrorless world. There is no point comparing this camera to an equally priced DSLR system because the entire ethos is about size and weight vs performance.

The market will dictate whether the price is too high to appeal to the target audience.

I will not be rushing out to buy one since my existing cameras serve me well - and that is where it ends for me. I cannot justify the investment simply because I run a business and I need good reason for each purchase. But if there are people out there who aren't professionals, and who gain pleasure from having the latest and greatest, then they will also be Olympus's target market.
