Focus Hunting with 55-300 WR on K50
1

I use the 55-300 WR on my K50 and have generally been happy. Only occasionally does the AF hunt before locking on and getting good focus,.......until today.

Today, I was shooting wild parrots in a tree and getting good shots. Then, on one particular sequence, the lens simply would not focus, just zipped in and out. If it finally caught focus, the subject was not in focus in the final picture. I don't recall any difference from other subjects I've shot successfully.

I'm wondering if the newer 55-300 is better at catching focus consistently? I realize it won't work on my K50 but I'm planning on buying the K70. I was going to use my present lens, but I'm really losing confidence in it.

Is the new lens noticeably better?
