Hi everyone. I recently got my 700D (T5i), and I noticed something odd while shooting in Live View.

When taking a photo, the mirror momentarily slaps down before the exposure is complete.

Yes, I know that's a normal behavior when the Quick Mode AF is selected (because it uses the main AF sensors), but it happens in any AF mode - Face Detect Tracking and both Single and Multi FlexiZones.

Some people say it's because entry-level Canons use a single motor for both mirror and shutter,

That is the reason. From 60D/70F/80D and up, the mirror and shutter are operated by separate motors.

others say it's because camera uses it's metering sensor located above the pentamirror (although I believe the imaging sensor itself could do the same thing).

Is this by design, or I'm missing something? Thanks in advance.
