How often do you use your 70-200 (vr1 or 2, or f4)

Re: "How Often" v. "How Important"

I use my 24-70/2.8G lens more than any of my Nikon-mount lenses. I do not use my 70-200/2.8G VR often, but if I can have only two Nikon lenses with me, to cover a wide range of situations, it would be these two lenses. It is not "how often" I use the 70-200/2.8G VR, but "how important" those fewer images might be.

Importantly, a 70-200/2.8 has very fast AF, and can AF in amazingly low light, if the camera body is up to the task. Some well-regarded prime lenses in the 70-200mm range are not known for fast AF. (The 200/2G VR I and II have very fast AF, but are very heavy and expensive, so are specialiist's tools.)

I have only considered my personal shooting, in the above paragraphs. My most important lenses while on duty would be a general-purpose zoom, and a macro lens, for crime scene/evidentiary/forensic shooting. I actually shoot more images with a 100mm macro lens, than anything else.

I wear a badge and pistol, and make evidentiary images at night, which incorporates elements of portrait, macro, still life, landscape, architecture, and PJ. I enjoy using both Canons and Nikons.
