EOS Mac conectivity

Hello

I have a EOS KissX5 AKA 600D. I cannot connect my camera to my iMac via USB its simply will not recognise it. I am using the latest OS Sierra which the Canon site says should work but I have also tried a MacBook Pro running El Capitan, again no joy. Thinking the camera faulty I connected to a PC running Windows 10 and its sees the Camera just fine. I have tried different USB leads, I have the latest firmware on the Camera etc etc.

At the end of the day I feel a bit of a plonker as I realised that I can simply take the SD out the camera and slot it directly onto my iMac! but having persevered for ages I am naturally curious what the problem is. Does any one have any ideas?

Thanks a lot

Stephen
