My first GX8 Milky-Way Landscape attempt...
2

This past summer I was hoping to take a nice Milky-Way Landscape photo using my Panasonic GX8 which seems to have far better Dark Noise performance than my 3 year old GX7. However I did not have a wide fast lens (which is what I thought people used), so only having the Olympus 9-18mm F4 it was difficult trying to capture enough light. Shooting at ISO3200 the shutter was open for 30secs to try and prevent star trails.

Although my eyes couldn't see much of it, horizon light pollution soon became apparent. And there was one really strong nearby light source, a floodlight in a churchyard about half a mile away - hence the different coloured bluish light streaming across the side of the church ruin.

I did my best to try and bring some colour into the Milky-Way, but as you can see my attempt has created some colour noise.

I want to try and learn to stack, but how to do it with a static subject as well as moving stars I have no idea !

Any advice appreciated.
